The core of Afikai operations is to ensure that there is financial liberty through rural employment and empowerment. Through our operations, we have empowered over 100 small holder farmers and employed over 1000 people along the entire value chain. Our movement into these rice communities has led to an increase in income to these small holder farmers by over 40%.

AFIKAI Food Processing and Nutrition Industry is an agribusiness social enterprise that connects smallholder and commercial farmers to farmlands and water bodies thereby forming in-grower co-operative schemes where farmers access mechanized services, inputs, training and markets.

Afikai makes sanitation a priority in its responsibility to the community. The Kasunya and Nyapienya communities are faced with many sanitation challenges especially; the presence of good toilet facilities. Afikai is currently constructing an 8-seater modern toilet facility for the community. This should be commissioned by the end of Q2 2021. We intend to build about 4 of such within the afore-mentioned communities, that will serve over 500 people in the community.
Water is a fundamental need and at Afikai we believe that access to potable water is a right. We are currently working to ensure that the community we operate in has access to clean water by setting up water filtration systems at various stations to filter some of the rain water and river water for their consumption.
Also we have constructed a 3km long man made canal to bring water closer to the people as well as to aid in irrigating the farms.
